CBDA—and that’s not a typo—is CBD’s precursor. Short for Cannabidiolic acid, CBDA is the acid form of cannabidiol. You can think of it as CBD in its more raw, natural form. Explore our CBDA oil products, and learn more below.
CBD is formed from CBDA through decarboxylation, which occurs when CBDA is heated to remove the acid group. Both CBD and CBDA work by activating the body’s endocannabinoid system, which promotes balance and helps alleviate inflammation, nausea, and anxiety. But CBDA has the added benefit of being “pure,” free of solvents and residues formed from combustion.
What Can CBDA Do On Its Own?
CBDA is thought to be anti-inflammatory and have anti-nausea, antioxidant, and pain-relieving properties. Less of it may be needed than CBD to get the desired effects, so taking a smaller dose may bring benefits about more rapidly. CBDA is also good for skin treatment and relieving hot flashes, PMS, and mood swings for women.
CBD is typically considered the active compound, while CBDA is considered inactive. Yet research continues to suggest that CBDA is also quite active! Raw CBD with CBDA can be consumed through simply eating and drinking cannabis leaves, as you would blend spinach in a smoothie or eat a kale in your salad. It can also be enjoyed through products like concentrate and extract.
Early research is suggesting it may have some positive anti-cancer effects in breast cancer, as well as anti-inflammatory effects for conditions such as arthritis. It also may have anti-nausea properties, as well as offer relief for anxiety and psychotic disorders.
